September 26, 2008

(By Freddy)

This morning at 2:45 the alarm went of to wake up. the adventure starts.

We had to get together at 3:30 at Café 'De Karre', so we could leave at 4:15.

Only one of the group of twenty was to late, he was still sleeping.

In 'De karre' we got sponsored glasses by 'Nico Brillen' of Steenwijk. There was also a t-shirt for everybody from a local rockband called 'De Richards'.

At 4:30 we were all sitting in the touringcar, and we drove away towards airport Zaventhem near Brussels in Belgium.
More than 30 people were present to wave us of on our journey.

It was 7:30 when we were at the airport. Our driver wanted to go to the taxistand, trafficcontrol of airport Zaventhem thought that wasn't a good idea, so we got a police escort for the last mile.

Checking in was no problem, even with our 50 extra t-shirts for Howie from Velosolex America, and the two spare engines we had with us.
We just had to pay a bit extra.

At 11:30 the doors of he plane opened, and at 13:30 we had lift-off.

Eight long hours later we were at 'Dulles Airport' in Washington DC. Because we crossed a few timezones it was just 14:30 over there.

No one except Hans Kolk had problems at 'emigration' He had to go to a seperate room so they could check everything. Everything was fine...

Half a hour we went into the next plane, a guy from the airport stepped toward is, and asked if the box with engines was ours...
They can not go into the plane, Now UPS will bring them to Tulsa, so we see them back next week.

At 17:15 we arrive at O'Hare airport in Chicago. Again we had a timezone, so it was actually 18:15.

Aad calls the hotel. They already know we are coming, and a little while later we are in the shuttlebus of the 'Super8 hotel'.
