A nice day...
After having "a real American breakfast" in the bar next to the motel we went on.
At first I went the wrong way. It was a piece of the route66 from 1920, and a dead end.
The road was very bad, we are all shooked up now.
René even had to hold his VeloSolex together with ducktape.
It wasn't as hot as yesterday. That is better for the engines.
Today was just 50 miles. Not that much.
We stopped at the Bagdad café, another of the icons on the route.
In Newberry Springs we cooled down with a coffee or soda.
A mile for Barstow it was over. A fench across the road.
It is to dangerous to go over the interstate, so we had to go by car for the last 5 miles.
The Route 66 Motel in Barstow is nice, the thing is piled up with old cars.
Harm had to repair some of the VeloSolexes. Eddies VeloSolex had to be operated. A heavily damaged piston came out of it. Ben's cluthc had to be tightened.
After some bread and a cheap phonecall using the public phone, on route to the Route66 museum in Barstow. We were invited by the owners Debra and Tom.
A snapshot infront of the museum, looking around inside, and after the "Goodbye, come again" back to the hotel were we had time to drink a beer, play cards, write this, or what else everybody wanted to do....
Later we go out dining and seing what the night brings us.
So long, Martijn
