Indoshelter was founded by 4 friends who live in Semarang. (Central Java, Indonesia)
They are Mardian van Raaij, Emmy Heikamp, Ina Schnitzeler en Karin Bouwer. they are very concerned about the fate of children who live on the streets.
Many children, all over the world, have to live on the street.
They have just a little (healthy) food, no healthcare, no education and they live under very unhealthy and unsafe conditions.
Also in Semarang, we see these children on the busy intersections, small children that have to beg. Trying to get some money for their parents.
In some cases, parents even hire their children to others, to get some money in that way.
These children live in appalling conditions. They come from very poor, broken families, or from families where problems such as drugs, alcohol and gambling addiction, unemployment, sexual abuse etc. play a role.
For us this all was a reason to take action
We are close to the fire, have the ability to offer immediate help, we can help coordinate, implement and monitor the help. We have full grip on the spending of donations.
The progress of the project, including financial accountability can be followed on our website: www.indoshelter.com. Here you can read more about our volunteers, the children and you will find pictures and news.
